Sustainable Business Practices
Colab Construction is committed to minimising potentially harmful effects on the environment and contributing to sustainable building development through a proactive attitude to environmental issues. We actively follow Environmental and Waste Management Plans onsite and in the office. We endeavour to exceed the requirement of all applicable legislation and regulations where it is within the company’s influence in design and construction.
Site Implementation
Our recycling procedures are discussed with each subcontractor as part of their induction on site and enforced by our site supervisor.
We actively separate waste to enable recycling of soil, bricks, concrete, timber, green waste, steel, cardboard and plastic bottles.
Any salvageable materials eg. hardwood, aluminium windows and doors etc. are taken to the local tip shop to be upcycled.
Subcontractors are encouraged to further ideas for waste minimisation.
Office Sustainability
Dropbox and Buildxact are now used to enable subcontractors to view plans and specifications on their computer at the quoting stage.
All invoices and bills are paperless, with our preferred method of delivery being email.
Email is our main and preferred option of communication.
Minimising document printing, printing double-sided and greyscale and re-use of used paper where possible.
Eco-friendly practices such as shutting down computers at end of day, turning off unused lights and electrical equipment.
All wastepaper is collected in designated recycling bins.
Australian made products
In accordance with specifications and value for money considerations, Australian products (and even better, locally made) are used where possible.
